Embassy Closures for the Month of August

Please be informed that the following embassies will be closed in August on the specified dates:

1. Thailand Embassy: 12th August 2014

2. Pakistan Embassy: 14th August 2014

3. Korea Embassy: 15th August 2014

4. Bangladesh Embassy: 15th August 2014

5. India Embassy: 15th  & 18th August 2014


No visa applications will be processed during this period.

Vietnamese Multiple Entry Visas

Please note that the Vietnam Embassy has temporarily stop accepting 6 Month Multiple Entry Visa from 1st August till further notice. 

All previous 6 Month Multiple Entry Visa submitted before the 1st August will be processed.

The embassy will make an announcement once the restriction has been lifted.

Required Vaccination of Visitors Entering China

Starting 1st August 2014 to 1st August 2015, foreigners holding passports from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Syria are required to present official Poliomyelitis vaccine certificate issued within the last 12 months when entering China.

Foreigners who fail to present the certificate will be legally subjected to a Poliomyelitis vaccine at the port of entry and a vaccine certificate will subsequently be issued. 


Foreigners who fail to present the official vaccine certificate and refuse to accept the vaccine at the port, will be legally denied entry into China.

United Airlines Launches Mobile App Passport Scanning

From 6th August 2014, United Airlines mobile app users now can scan their passports for mobile check-in on international flights. With this new feature, users with iOS and Android mobile devices need to verify a stored passport or scan their passport with their device's camera to receive a boarding pass.

Travellers requiring visas or other additional documentation still must check in at the airport.

Air Asia’s Premium Flex for Business Travellers

AirAsia Group has launched a product called Premium Flex designed for corporate travellers. Passengers will now have the privilege of changing their flight without being charged a fee. However, if there is a fare difference, they are required to pay the amount.

Premium Flex offers a maximum of two changes to flight date or time, complimentary 20kg baggage allowance, complimentary seat selection, express boarding and express baggage.

It is now available for all AirAsia flights (except for Sri Lanka). Flight change is available for up to two hours before scheduled departure time of the original flight and must be at least three hours before the departure time of the new AirAsia flight and at least four hours before the departure time of the new AirAsia X flight.

Fliers who can make the changes via web, mobile and all AirAsia official offline booking channels.

Myanmar’s new e-Visa Application

Myanmar introduces a new online visa application system that started 13th August. The BETA test is available for a limited number of tourist visa applications. The new system will be fully implemented for all tourist visa applications from 1st September 2014.

During the trial run, applicants are required to fill out an online visa form, verify that all the information entered is correct and make an online credit card payment. Applicants will receive a visa approval letter via email and are then eligible to have their passport stamped upon arrival by presenting a print-out of the electronic approval letter.

According to the Ministry of Immigration and Population, the parameters of the online application process, including the visa fee, may be subject to change upon review of the trial period.

Cambodia’s new e-Visa Application

Cambodia launched a new website starting 19 August, for e-visa applications and has

 announced that visa prices will be raised with effect October 1 for both leisure and business travellers. 

Both announcements were made in a series of statements issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation last week.
