InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has partnered with Vietnam’s largest low-cost carrier, Vietjet, for the development of a new hotel close to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The agreement with Thuy Duong-Duc Binh Trading and Vietjet will lead to the launch of the new Holiday Inn & Suites Saigon Airport, which will become one of the brand’s first hotels in Vietnam when it opens.
The property will form part of a mixed-use development that also includes a retail mall and residential apartment building. It will offer easy access to the airport and will also be connected to downtown HCMC via a new metro line, which is due to open in 2017.
Once open, the new hotel will feature 350 rooms, a restaurant, lobby lounge, a swimming pool with pool bar, fitness centre, business centre, eight meeting rooms, and a departure lounge where guests can wait prior to boarding their flight.
This is not IHG’s first collaboration with an airline in Vietnam however; the InterContinental Asiana Saigon in downtown Ho Chi Minh City is operated in partnership with South Korea’s Asiana Airlines. In total IHG now operates six hotels in Vietnam, but plans to double this portfolio to 12 properties in the next three to five years.
